Biography

Réjane is the Director and a founding member of the Bulungula Incubator (BI) The BI is a rural development organisation based in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The BI has been initiating and implementing projects in the region, Preconception to Career for almost 20 years. When the organisation began its work, there was no access to electricity, piped water, functioning education or healthcare. In a survey conducted in 2011, it was found that 53% of households had lost at least one child to diarrhoea and 1 in 9 had lost 3 or more due to the lack of access to clean water and healthcare. The BI partners with communities, government entities and other organisations to find effective solutions in projects in Education, Health, Sustainable livelihoods and Youth Acceleration.
Réjane was awarded the prestigious John P. McNulty prize for her work at the Bulungula Incubator and in 2019 was the winner of the Global Social Impact award by the British Council.
