Biography

Dr Marta Lado
- Internal Medicine/Infectious diseases consultant since 2009 with extensive experience in the Public Health Care System in Spain (Emergency, Internal Medicine and Infectious diseases departments) and specialized in Tropical Medicine through the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSTMH) since 2012.

- International Medicine and Global/Public Health Expert: Policy making and implementation of Health programs for the last 5 years in Sierra Leone; first as a Senior clinician in Internal Medicine at Connaught hospital (Freetown) and the College of Medicine and Allied Health Science (CoMAHS) and, since 2017, as the Chief Medical Officer for Partners In Health (PIH) in the country. This role embraces from managing all the clinical staff working for the organization in country (>500 people), to designing and implementing Clinical Programs (MDR TB, TB, HIV, Internal Medicine, Reproductive Maternal and Neonatal Care, Surgery, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Primary health care, etc) but also working as the Technical Advisor to the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) and Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) in the National HIV, TB, Malaria and Non communicable diseases programs among others.

- Ebola Clinical Expert after vast exposure in the West African outbreak 2014-2016 in Sierra Leone with KingĀ“s College Global Health partners and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during October-November 2018 and May-June 2019 as WHO consultant for Case Management. Elaboration of Clinical guidelines for Case Management of Ebola with WHO, EDCARN and GOARN.
