Forbes Reports Jeff Skoll Ranks Among Top U.S. Philanthropists

September 9, 2020

While the Forbes 400, released this week, offers a sweeping view of individual wealth in the U.S., the real story is how it highlights the levels of philanthropic commitment among the wealthiest Americans. Forbes found that Jeff Skoll sits near the top echelon of givers, a level of giving that included only 19 of those ranked.

Jeff’s $100 million gift to the Foundation in March has fueled the Foundation’s ability to quadruple its 2020 payout and its rapid COVID-19 response, building on two decades of philanthropic support for social entrepreneurs and other changemakers that has paved the way for others to follow suit.

The Forbes rankings could jump start giving during a time of great need, says Global Citizen. “The new Forbes index will help people understand the actual giving of billionaires, not just how much they pledge,” Global Citizen noted. “This transparency will hopefully spur those who have been blessed with enormous wealth to use it for good and with greater urgency.”

The Forbes acknowledgement underscores Jeff’s deep commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous world for all, and his decisive work as a catalyst for collaborative response to the worst pandemic of our time.
