Shivani Garg Patel is a Principal at the Skoll Foundation. She works directly with Skoll Award Social Entrepreneurs, collaborating on their path toward lasting social change. Shivani is a former Microsoft product manager, McKinsey strategy consultant turned social entrepreneur and advisor.
Most recently, she was co-founder and managing director of Samahope, a non-profit that invests in local medical providers working to provide critical medical care to women and children in poor communities around the globe. Samahope built the capacity of these providers, enabling access to care to over 17,000 patients in need. Investments included funding medical treatments, training programs and crucial infrastructure. In 2015, Samahope joined forces with CaringCrowd.org, a platform for global health funding and awareness powered by Johnson&Johnson.
Her technology-driven social innovation work spans the Grameen Foundation, World Bank and World Health Organization. She has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a B.A. in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management. Shivani is also the proud and under-caffeinated mother of a 2.5 year old daughter.
