Mary Tangelder has more than 15 years of experience in the international development sector as a researcher, educator, and program designer working in conflict, post-conflict, and low-income locations. At the MasterCard Foundation, Mary is responsible for the management and oversight of research, evaluation and learning activities led by the Learning and Strategy team. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked as an Education Advisor for East and Southern Africa and directed a partnership between the International Rescue Committee and University of Nairobi to establish a Masters of Education in Emergencies. For almost a decade, she was the Director for a Toronto-based consultancy firm, Spire Works, working with leading NGOs, UN agencies, and governing bodies to help them gather and use evidence to design new solutions for the people they are trying to serve.
