Biography

Emma has 20 years’ experience operating at the nexus between financial innovation and social entrepreneurship.

Emma spent a decade in community development in Central America, before running a global impact investment fund for ERM. After moving to Nairobi in 2010, she provided impact advisory support to clients including the Kenya Bankers’ Association, UNDP and Palladium.

In 2014, Emma founded Tiny Totos, a Kenyan social enterprise tackling the childcare crisis by turning informal babysitters into profitable childcare entrepreneurs. Tiny Totos has served over 20,000 children, while extending reach in Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda and Ethiopia. Tiny Totos’ childcare innovations have won many accolades, including being on Yale’s 2022 Start Up List of African ventures transforming the continent.

Emma has a 1st class BA from Oxford University, a Masters in Resource Management from UBC and an MBA with Distinction from Oxford, where she was a Skoll Scholar in Social Entrepreneurship.
